The Climber

The Climber is making progress. I have been working on the light twinkling through the leaves. Caught in the shadow, on the surface of my paper, there is depth that is not actually there. Only the absence of light. Some of the forms are fuzzy, while others more pronounced.

Being the artist, I can manipulate these forms, to be pleasing in the composition. This is what is the most fun for me, because it is entirely up to me how I resolve this. No other opinion matters ultimately. I am free, while I listen to my heart tell me the next move. That is one aspect of being an artist that I enjoy the most.

This is coming on really well Robin. I love the soft focus of some forms contrasting the crisp lines.

I can understand the feeling of letting your heart and mind - and the piece itself - dictate where to go next.

Hi Robin,
I always liked your drawings and these new ones are so interesting from my point of view, because they can be read representational and abstract.

Thank you Jeanette
That is exactly what fascinates me when I study shadows. When I see them in my home they mesmerize me.

Do you also turn off your thinking mind at times, and just allow your emotions to direct you?

Hi Martin - Good to see you.
I too have been interested in that aspect of these drawings. I am staring at a shadow right now coming through my backdoor and the shapes taht are created are fascinating. It is multiplied when outdoors.
