There are a good many artists and people out there who seek to grow and/or excel in art and life. They don’t look at art or life as a grab bag of disconnected events and attributes. In life they look to solve, understand, and integrate their financial situations, family, love, psychological and physical health, an understanding of the world around them, careers, and be ethical.
In my world, life imitates art. I think art’s greatest function is to serve as a beacon for the great life.
It has been said that art is the technology of the soul. For the artist that has a wise, benevolent, and structured mind; a passionate heart; an imaginative vision; and takes sensual delight in incorporating everything to do with their vision–they are on a path to integrate all their knowledge and to make works that are comprehensive in their scope.
It is nice for them to know that they are not alone in that vision of art and life. They are my main reason for posting.

You said it :)
correction... Michael said it.
This definitely comes from a person who gives himself to art and to those that want to learn. A true, dedicated and generous, artist.
Thankyou for the reminder of how much is on Michael Newberry's site. I got immersed, once again. Have you taken his classes in person, or the mentoring option that is online/by phone? Some day...
Robin after taking a break and coming back it is so fitting to see your last two posts. How wonderful it is for us all to grow together.
Thank you for the reminders and sharing your art.
Hi Robin. Thank you for this post. We are blessed to have Michael in our lives, supporting our artistic development.
Mary - nothing I can disagree with there
Margie - I am glad that it was helpful. Yes, I have worked with Michael in different ways. My first meeting with him (outside of online chats) was in his NY studio. I took a color workshop one day. He was very gracious with his time. I currently work with him as a mentor, and other than my education at ACCD, it is the best support I have received artistically. He has been to CA, and I have had additional one on one time painting plein air with him. Next I am going to NY to do a three day pastel workshop with him and a few other students. I am so excited! If you ever have the opportunity to work with him, jump at it. You won't be disappointed. Email me if you have more questions.
Toni - an occasional break is needed I think. Makes one appreciate all of our gifts. For me Life just snowballs at times, and I need to step aside for a bit. Stand back up and brush oneself off, and find that group of people that keeps us uplifted.
Sue - I couldn't agree with you more. I need a triple dose of him very soon.
Michael - the ever present lurker... this is for you:
I am not sure if you are aware of the strength your work gives me. Taking a stroll through your gallery always heals me. There is a balance I find. I see and feel the goodness. Your words are healing as well.
For some reason you were placed in my life, and rightly so at this time. Any other moment might not have meant as much. You're giving, you're inspirational, never dull, and ever so talented.
So that is why...
I thank you.
