I started these yesterday at the California Arts Club paint-out. It was an all day event. Gorgeous subject, and the light did not fail me. However, just as ice melts into water, so does the light into shadow. What was once a warm color becomes a cool color.. so I put it aside and began another. That too lost the glimpse of light. I shall return to put the finishing touches on these. Come see the final results...

These are very nice Robin, I like the different perspective of the dome.
Robin, i know the time and dedication these paintings took to create. many hours standing in the heat trying to capture that elusive light play. your effects have definitely been worth it! i'm most impressed by the complicated perspective and how beautifully you've handles it. i like that painterly sky, too.
i meant 'your EFFORTS'...sorry
Robin, I admire your use of perspective. These are lovely. I feel like I am there looking up at the dome.
Mary - yes I decided to come in closer and attempted to get an upward view of the dome. Certainly a bit more shade under the breezeway, and yet a challenge from being a bit off center.
Billie - yes on your feet for the day is wearing, but luckily I found some shade and had a gorgeous subject. The only thing better would have been if the fountain had been on. Maybe next time.
Billie - you know I understand Billie "speak"
Sue - Hi! Thanks for stopping by. Yes I was looking up, and at first worried that I wouldn't get it all onto my panel. Luckily I was able to shrink it in my brain. Actually I am much closer than this view appears.
Robin - the light moves so fast doesn't it - Its a real knack to be able to catch it. Very nice!
