He who would do some great thing in this short life, must apply himself to the work with such a concentration of his forces as to the idle spectators, who live only to amuse themselves, looks like insanity.

I've been following along with this, and when I saw this post, all I could think was, "Ooooooo!". Oh, it glows, Robin!
Beautiful work...love the light you've captured and lovely composition!

Indeed you have captured something in this. I think you must realize it yourself because of the quote about surprising even yourself. I can relate.
Wendee - yes but far too controlled at this stage. See my next post, I am heading at it from a different perspecitive now.
Ronell - thank you Ronell. I love the light too, and the story behind this piece. The composition came naturally and I have found quite a story hidden within.
Luckyzmom - I have only been using oils for a year now, and to be doing a piece this large already is .. well, taken me by surprise.
Yes, large is scary. 18x22 is the bravest I've gone so far. You have inspired me.
Actually fear isn't a part of my art vocabulary. Thankfully I see it all as an adventure. The worst scenario comes no way near other situations that I have found myself in. Extremely glad that I can be an inspiration.
