Second Goal Met

Pasadena's Bridge 8x10" oil on panel

Eaton's Meadow 12x16" oil on linen

Treasures 16.5x24" Charcoal on Rives paper

I set myself a few personal goals this year. The first being my website. It was to be online by the first of the year, and I met that goal the second week of 2007.
My next goal was to show my work. I have done this twice already. Not sure why that didn't count as having reached my goal.

Today I had the opportunity to enter my work into a juried show here in Pasadena. These three works were accepted into the Pasadena Society of Artists, Annual Juried Show, in June. My first ever entry into a juried exhibition. I am delighted to have this opportunity to show my work. Perhaps the fact that this is a juried show, I know no one, and they don't know me. My work made it in on its own merit. That matters.
I need to go back in my posts to find out what other goals I am reaching for.

I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have.

Great composition and colors on the bridge painting!

Thank you Leslie. I was noticing the other day that every arch on the bridge is a different size. It must have been a fun project to design.

Thanks for your compliments on my painting! I enjoy your blog, great work! I did my biggest painting ever this weekend: 6 by 10 feet! check my blog. Can I link to you?

Hi Robin, Thanks for looking at my green pots and for leaving a comment on my blog. You have some wonderful paintings on you blog! Beautiful work. I also enjoyed your various quotations!

Robin, I'm thrilled for you! I know there wasn't a shred of doubt in the jury's mind about accepting your work. It is good to be accepted by an independent body isn't it?

I love that Pasadena Bridge painting. You know there is a Pasadena in Newfoundland, named after the Pasadena in California by a gentleman who's wife was from there originally. Just a little trivia...:)

Alex - Like I said your paintings are awesome. That latest one is huge. I would be delighted to be linked to you and I have done the same.

Emma - Thank you for your kind words.

Jeanette - you are too kind. It is a nice feeling, even though that isn't why I do this.
I did not know there was a Pasadena there as well. Funny how these names were carried from place to place.
Hope life is good, now that the snow is once again gone.

Hi Robin - I thought that your blog was gone, must have forgotten the "5"! Great to see how you are progressing! I too am hoping to get a website up, but my deadline is more like... sometime next year or so... Thanks for sharing your work!

Robin, congratulations! Your work is stunning and without a doubt should be in a show and shown.
My favorite is the 'Meadow'.

Robin Neudorfer said...

Anna - I know that silly 5. Back when I set up this blog I was nervous about opening myself up to the universe. Now I wish I had just used my name. Guess I could switch over, but I am afraid of losing all my links. aaagh
The website was very easy. I use a mac and it was just a drag and drop application. I hope you let me know when you do.

Thank you Toni. It will be a fun experience.

Wow. I love the three of them but my favourite is the charcoal one. Fantastic job! Lots and lots of luck Robin!!! Cheers.

Robin Neudorfer said...

That charcoal drawing is near and dear to me. I think due to its significance, and the number of hours I have spent on it. The other two are in the moment paintings. Thanks for stopping by Martin.

Your color sense is just exquisite, Robin. And I'm not even a LITTLE surprised your work was accepted into the show...it's wonderful.

Ujawala - It has been an interesting project. Circumstances has slowed me down at times, and a few cobwebs have to be cleared out, but it will be completed. Thanks for watching

Robin Neudorfer said...

Kay - I appreciated your support. We will watch and see how important shows are to this effort, but for now it is a nice pat on the back. Thanks

Robin Neudorfer said...

Casey - yes I have found that quote to be very appropriate. I have boxes of work unseen, and yet I score more times when I am actually do the work. Thank you for your kind words, they are appreciated.

Robin Neudorfer said...

Shirley - yes I was never much for goals in the past. I always just let life sweep me along. I have learned while raising my family that I get lost in the shuffle. So this past year, I have made the commitment to myself, and it is paying off. As this is month five, I need to make plans for the next 7. Thanks for stopping by.

Kate - What a nice compliment. One needs to get out of ones bubble to see what works and what doesn't. Baby steps, but moving forward.

Oooohhhh.... I LOVE the Pasadena Bridge painting most of all! I mean, they're all three good, but from here, the bridge ....
And I thought I'd congratulated you on being juried into the show, but don't see it here (was it via e-mail on the EDM list?) ANYWAY -- I can't say congratulations often enough anyway, such a wonderful accomplishment!

Mike - what a really nice comment to write. As I plug away on the painting of Treasures, it was very thoughtful of you to stop by and give that little boost of energy. Of course I will add you to my list and after looking at your work, I appreciate the offer to do so.

phthaloblu - Didn't mean to pass you by. Thank you so much for your post. I am not sure there will be any winners, but I am proud to be asked to take part. That is enough for me this go through.
