La Casitas del Arroyo
19 x 26" pastel on Canson
I have passed this many times without bothering to really look. Today my art friends decided to meet here. After chatting about an upcoming show we are working towards, we found our spots and enjoyed the views. From the Old Pasadena bridge, to the butterfly garden, all the way across the Arroyo, to a SoCA vineyard in someones backyard.
It is definitely summer here in the south of Cali-for-ni-a. My pick was a seat on a cool rock (yea right... my tush went numb after 2 hrs), and I found the light beautiful on the facade of La Casitas del Arroyo. My goal was to create depth without drawing detail, and I think I achieved that.

Lovely work; it looks like a lovely spot. We could do with a bit of summer here!
Thank you Dave. I guess the city owns the property and opens it up for city functions. Would love to see it in action one day.
Robin, your pastels are looking great, I really love this one. Congratualtions on the upcoming show!
I can't work out how to comment on your latest post, Robin. I wanted to say congratulations on the show and that I love the Bridge oil which I haven't seen before. It has a great 'feel' - which I know isn't a technical term but I bet it sells paintings!
Love the use of hatched marks - the Newberry influence is evident! Lovely work. Your paintings/studies of boxes are also excellent.
Oooo, lovely. Yup, summer is here in So Cal, but not quite unbearably hot. Such a nice rendition of how nice the start of the season is.
