It was a rainy day, so Lori was generous enough to open up her studio to us. Coffee was on, cookies were brought by Louisa, a still life was set up. I was however, attracted to the other side of the studio, towards the light. Love the graphic play on the easels, and I can still hear the music Lori put on to draw by.
Thank you Lori for your warm hospitality.

Often, the simplest things, put to one side without though become the most interesting compositions. You found what others didn't see in that studio.
I love simple pictures as this. I can imagine the music and smell the coffee.
Jeanette - after giving it a bit more thought... it does look like these easels are standing at attention waiting for the troops. My friend holds art classes for young people, and it is so well thought out. My eyes were just taking it all in.
John - Hi there... I love simple too. It was all the positive/negative shapes that drew me over to this corner. You imagine correctly.
I love how artists can take everyday objects and corners and draw them. Nothing staged just what is there. I need to do this more.
wonderful play on light.
Sounds like a great day. This looks like such a great 'snapshot' of the scene.
Toni - That is exactly what I love about "being" an artist. There is no greater joy for me.
Wendee - The easels actually look lonely to me now. Waiting for the troops that didn't show up that day.
ooh, looks like a familiar setting - a goldmine actually - waiting for students to get there, anxious people, wanting the best easel, the one with ALL the bolts in place, with the least wet paint/charcoal dust left on it from the last class...then they are dragged to that person's favorite spot in the room...and then the model is placed, arranged, moved, re-arranged, lights adjusted, moved again, finally - the art dance begins, wow. all these thoughts come to mind when I see this - it's beautiful!
Oh yes, you have painted the perfect picture. Don't you just love the art dance. Thank you for this...
I almost missed this one, having been away from the computer more than usual. I love the drawing and it expresses my yearning to be part of a flesh and blood art group. Maybe if I erect my easel one will come :)
