Autumn in SoCA

What an incredible view I had yesterday. The light was acting like a spotlight on the distant trees. One would believe that we celebrate the changing of the seasons here in Southern California. I have always known this to be true, just hard to convince those from the east coast. Really, we are down to 70 degrees. Honest.

Well... I found my bit of Autumn yesterday. Light was moving quickly so I had to grasp what I could. This was painted at Descanso Gardens, in the rose garden.

Your right I do find it hard to believe you have changing of the seasons. But my sister lives in San Bernadino and she says it is so.
Beautiful painting for a beautiful day.

Wow - you are having a burst of creative energy. I haven't checked for a couple of days and suddenly there are all these great paintings! I love the colour and texture in this one. Also very taken with the watercolour approach to oils in Eucalyptus. Keep 'em coming!

Robin, this one fascinates me. I have seen our mountains look just like these so many times but you have made them sing with the color of the trees.

Billie - someone else managed to put this palette together. I just gave a go at copying it.

MrsSnowy - life kept me away for a while, and now I am back. Yes a few new techniques that I will continue to experiment with. Thanks for stopping by.

Mary - I love our mtns. We live in a basin, and I always know where I am based on them. Every day of the week you can find hikers making their way to the top. They change color daily.

Robin, these last two paintings are sooo beautiful. Great color, great light! Lovely (and I feel so sorry for your fridged fall weather)

Lindsay - How are you doing? Thanks for the lovely comments. That fall weather didn't last long, we dropped about 30 degrees in one week. Frost on the rooftops in the morning. Brrrrr.
